Game Dev Club

I have been involved in Game Dev Club at Illinois State University for the past year, and have contributed to two games as a result! Here's some examples of my work:

Cyber Paw

This was my first time working with a team on a fully original game!
I contributed mostly to the background imagery, and some animation for the character and a couple of the enemies.

Fear of Flora

This is the second game I've made with the game dev club!
I was a bit more involved this time around, making the tilemap for the ground, the design for the central house, and contributing to enemy animations.

Of course, I'd like to thank everyone from game dev club who I worked with! This game would not have been possible without everyone's work.

If you would like to try out either of these games or any other games made by the Illinois State University game dev club, be sure to check out the club's itch.io page!

Splatfestival

Since October of 2020, I have worked with the Splatfestival team to make community events for the WiiU game Splatoon through game modifications! Here are some of the projects I have contributed to:

Frosty Fest 2

In December of 2020, the Splatfestival team released Frosty Fest 2. This was a mod for Splatoon on the WiiU aiming to replicate the Frosty Fest event which happened in Splatoon 2 back in 2019! This was my first time making custom models and textures for a large-scale, public project, and I'm still pretty proud of what we put together!

In terms of my contribution, I was responsible for most of the custom decoration geometry used in the hub area, and I contributed to the custom textures on Flounder Heights. I also helped test and debug during development!

Additionally, I would like to thank the rest of the team behind this!

Splatoween 2

In the following October, we had a similar project aiming to recreate Splatoon 2's 2019 Splatoween event. Of course, it was similar in many ways!

A lot of my work was reworking assets from the previous Frosty Fest 2 event to fit the new theme. But I also made some new assets, like the ghost decorations seen in the plaza! Here's some pictures to show off our work:

What Else Do You Do?

Additonally, I'm one of the main team members responsible for dialogue writing in our more frequent, standard Splatfest events!
These are usually much more simple than the two projects shown above, but they still take some work to put together.

Our standard Splatfest projects consist of dialogue for custom in-game news broadcasts, stage selections, scheduling, manual matchmaking, color selection, and custom art used for the voting booth, news broadcast, and in-game clothing.

Most of this is done through custom files replicating those originally used by Nintendo to distribute event data up until 2017!

We try to hold these in-game events once per month, but have been on hiatus recently because of network issues on Nintendo's end.

Redbird Splatoon Club

Over the past semester, I was also thrust into the position of president for Illinois State University's Redbird Splatoon Club.
As president, I've also been the main member of the Redbird Splatoon leadership team responsible for managing our club social media. Here's some examples of my graphic design work I've done as a result!
